Candolim is known not only for it's beach of golden sands but also for the Taj holiday village where a lot of high class tourists stay and as such it is considered a good tourist spot.Candolim offers lots of opportunities to shop and dine, right from the beachside shacks to fine dining. During the Kadamba rule in Goa, Candolim had *patshalas* imparting education in Sanskrit literature.

Candolim Beach
Candolim beach is located to the south of Calangute Beach. The beach has a lot of shrub vegetation along the shoreline with many paths leading to the beach. One can undertake jet skiing, paragliding and dolphin sighting tours from water sport operators on this beach. The beach is located at a distance of 12 kms. from Mapusa and 14 kms. from Panaji.

A large ship, the River Princess can be seen moored a short distance from the beach. The ship landed here when it got detached from its anchorage at Vasco harbor in 2003. Efforts to tow it have failed and it has remained on the beach ever since. Occasionally one can see tourists fishing along the beach using a rod and line. Accommodation is easy to find as there are plenty of guest houses, hotels and resorts in the area. Candolim is easily accessible from Mapusa by bus.
