St. Peter’s Church stands in a quiet little place in Bainguinim, Old Goa . It is also known as Sao Pedro church. There is an image of St. Peter, its patron at the altar . In the background of the main altar there is an old wooden frame encrusted with thin marine shells. There are few inscriptions on the floor but almost erased. The church was built in 1543. It is said that the church was built entirely at the expenses of the public treasury.It is one of the eight parish churches of the old city of Goa. The Church of St. Peter’s, Bainguinim was declared a national monument in the 1930’s.
