The church in Mapusa is dedicated to St. Jerome. The statue of St. Jerome can be seen placed to the left of the altar.
The church is also dedicated to Our Lady of Miracles. The feast of Our Lady of Miracles is celebrated in the third week after Easter. Our Lady of Miracles is reputed to be the elder sister of goddess lairai of shirgao village. Devotees of both religious communities flock at St. Jerome's church to venerate Our Lady with votive offerings. Exquisitely carved furniture made out of wood, metal and wickerwork can be purchased at the fair.
