The Our Lady of Snows church Rachol was built in 1556 and was the first church in Salcette. It was a humble construction of mud and a thatched roof. In 1576, The Jesuits built another church, a stronger structure built of stone. The present church building dates back to 1596. A statue of Christ (Senhor Morto) is venerated in this church with great devotion . The Our Lady of Snows Church, Rachol is also fondly known as the Rachol Church.
