Dudhsagar Falls is a waterfall located on the upper Mandovi River, just within Goa's border with the state of Karnataka. It is 60 km from Panaji. The falls are located high up in the Mandovi river's catchment area. The name of this waterfall evolves from the Konkani name for the falls, Dudhsagar meaning 'sea of milk'. This is because froth is formed due to the speedy surge of water from the majestic heights. In spite of being a perilous spot due to its slippery rocks, it is a popular site for trekking and hiking. Those who love adventure and thrill can always try to climb to the head of the waterfalls though the rough path full of rocks, vegetation and water.

During the monsoon season however, the falls transform into a raging torrent of gushing water. Dudhsagar is listed as India's 5th tallest waterfall, and is 227th in the world with a total height of 310 metres. It is a major part of the Goa ecosystem feeding the river of Mandovi. The waterfall has created a couple of pools nearby that lure the tourists for a bath and frolicking in the waters
