The Salaulim dam is located in the Taluka of Sanguem in South Goa, which is about 26km from the city of Margao. The Salaulim dam lies on the Salaulim river, nestled amidst the lush green hills on the western ghats. The dam is open everyday throughout the year from 9 A.M. to 6 P.M. The dam has been wonderfully beautified by the tourism department of Goa making it a popular picnic spot.

Goa’s largest manmade water storage reservoir, The Selaulim dam, is a composite earth-cum-masonry dam of 42.7 metres (140 ft) height with a water spread area of 24 km2 in the town of Sanguem in South Goa. The river drains a catchment area of 227 km2.At the peak of the monsoon season, the water starts overflowing from the Salaulim Dam. This overflow takes places via the dam’s unique duckbill spillway, which empties into the Salaulim river below.
