The Naguesh Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva is one of the most ancient temples in Goa. It is located in Bandora which is 4 km from Ponda. It was established in 1413 A.D. before the Portuguese arrived in Goa. Unlike many other Hindu temples of Goa which were shifted out of the Velha Conquistas, the Nageshi Temple is at its original place. It has however been renovated a number of times.

The carvings, that have been colorfully painted, narrate stories from the Hindu epics, Ramayana and Mahabharata. It is known to have been renovated by the grandson of Shivaji. The best festival is Shivaratri. The idol is taken in the Palakee on every Monday in this temple.
