The Mallikaarjun temple is situated 30 kms. from Margao. The temple constructed in the 16 century A.D. , is dedicated to lord Mallikarjun, an incarnation of lord Shiva. The temple houses some exquisitely carved wooden pillars that are an absolute must see.Elaborate carvings, stories and characters drawn and etched on the walls and pillars deliver the visitors into an era long gone.

During the famous annual festival or Jatra, the idol of the deity is taken out in a procession to the nearby Rajbag beach at Kindgebag and the deity is bathed accompanied by other rituals. The temple is the hub of activity during the Veeramel festival. The temple also celebrates the festivals of Rathasaptami and Shigmotsav which attract a number of devotees.

The Manguesh temple was originally located at Kushasthali (present day Cortalim). With the threat of persecution looming, the linga was transferred from the original temple to the present location at Priol.
