The Agassaim Church is dedicated to St. Lawrence the Martyr. The Church is situated on a little hillock overlooking the beautiful village of Agassaim. It was built as a small chapel in the 16th century. In 1565, the Jesuits built a larger Church supporting the Portuguese styled architecture. Vestiges of the chapel are present on the northern side of the church building. The Church building has undergone renovation in the recent times.

The Patron Saint - St. Lawrence the Martyr
St. Lawrence the Martyr, is known as the patron saint of the poor and of cooks and is one of the most widely venerated saints of the Roman Catholic Church. The villagers of Agassaim celebrate the Church feast on the 10th of August with much devotion and reverence.
