Morjim beach is located to the south of Ashvem beach. It lies on the northern side of the mouth of the Chopdem river. From the beach one can see the Chapora fort upon a hill on the other side of the Chopdem river. Morjim beach is situated at a distance of 18 kms. from Mapusa and 30 kms. from Panaji. The part of the beach directly opposite the fort is usually deserted. A few palm and Casuarina pines can be found on the beach.

Morjim beach is famous as a nestling ground for Olive Ridley sea turtles (Lepidochelys olivacea). During the nesting season in September, the beach is closed to the general public so that the turtles may not be disturbed. The Pernem station is the closest railway station to this beach. A few small shacks are located at the point where the road meets the beach.
