Chapora beach is a rocky beach with stretches of clean sands in between. The beach is located at the mouth of the Chopdem river on its southern bank. During low tide one can see birds congregating on islands of silt that show up in the Chopdem river.Chapora beach is located 8 kms. from Mapusa and 22 kms. from Panaji.
Across the opposite bank of the river lies Morjim beach. Behind the beach lies the Chapora fort. There is a fishing jetty at the beach where fishing trawlers can dock. The beach is known as a good fishing spot and frequently one can see tourists fishing here. There are no shacks on this beach which has enabled this beach to remain clean. Chapora beach can be reached from Mapusa by bus. Along the route to the beach, lies the Chapora fort.
