Caranzalem beach is located to the west of Miramar beach along the mouth of the Mandovi river. It is located at a distance of about 5 kms. from Panaji. This 3.5 kms. of beach stretch is considered a safe beach for swimming since there are very few undercurrents here. However swimmers are advised to consult the lifeguard before venturing into the sea.
The Miramar - Dona Paula road runs parallel to the beach. Along the beach one can find Casuarina pines, Palms and grassy lawns and some shacks. The beach is clean and tidy and has a lot to offer in water sports. The Cabo raj bhavan (governors residence) is located a short distance from this beach.
