Ashvem beach is a small flat sandy beach located to the north of Morjim. Most of the tourists can be found on the southern part of the beach. The northern end has a small lagoon with a rivulet flowing across the beach. The beach is located 21 kms. from Mapusa and 33 kms. from Panaji. The lagoon lined with mangrove and palm trees on both the sides empties itself into the sea. If you are patient enough and lucky, you can spot some birds who come to the lagoon during low tide to feed upon fish and crustaceans.
Ashvem can be reached by taking a bus to Arambol from Mapusa and alighting on the way at Ashvem. A road runs parallel to the beach where one can easily find accommodation with the locals. The beach has many shacks that serve good food and refreshments and huts where one can stay peacefully at the beach itself.
